REISSUE: “House Of The Rising Sun” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bona-Riah

REISSUE: “House Of The Rising Sun” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Bona-Riah Bona-Riah is a disco/high energy project from 1987 produced by disco singer, Hazell Dean and Pete Ware (also produced tracks for Divine). This tail end of the 80’s feature is a morphing of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman sound which made dance floors flourish again with projects from Rick Astley, Kylie Minogue, Bananarama and many more. The high end percussion and jittery hand claps were a prominent staple in the rhythmic qualities as used here in there 12” of “House Of The Rising Sun” – a cover of The Animals classic. Another version was needed and a rolling energy like this was welcomed during the high energy 80’s dance movement. The thumping street beats which stomp out the breaks are another traditional piece used. Vocals are a bit distant and strange but work with the chorus as it creates that haunting feel this song is remembered by. I have taken the 12” version of Bona-Riah’s “House Of The Rising Sun” and took the song deeper into retro with pieces of the original and also breaking the vocal up so that it flows fast and furious. This ReStructure Mix is another tribute to the high energy period which helped to keep the “disco spirit” alive. Thank you, Hazell Dean and Pete Ware.
