REISSUE: “Hot Lava” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Disco Tex and The Sex-O-Lettes

REISSUE: “Hot Lava” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Disco Tex and The Sex-O-Lettes Disco Tex and The Sex-o-Lettes are best known for their funky 1975 release, “Get Dancin’” with its rousing and at times outrageous flamboyant directness. It was one of the first spoofs of “boogie” music to my knowledge when the term disco was shortly waiting in the wings. Produced by Bob Crewe and fantastic arrangements by Kenny Nolan and Denny Randell. This began a whole side to funky/boogie music for an introduction to the club scene on AM radio and also for those steppin’ out without experience. “Hot Lava” is from their second album from 1976 titled “Manhattan Millionaire” which follows in the familiar style of funk excess with a flute solo gettin’ to the groove. This number plays out as each beat and clap is accentuated appropriately and flawlessly. This is one of the early tracks that many were movin' fiercely to at a Mancuso Party. Hot! I have taken the 3:49 album version and extended and added a few elements to play this “Hot Lava” flowing to another ReStructure Mix. It is played out as the original with a few new breaks and pieces that stand plain funky to be repeated.
