ReStructure Mix Update (12/12/20) “Baby I Don’t Know” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Kryptonite

Kryptonite is a disco project from Dee Jay Productions (Joe La Greca and John McDiarmid) who have also been responsible in part for heating up dance floors with pieces from Bombers, Eve John, Walter Rossi, Kat Mandu, Hydro, Melody Stewart, Lime and Carol Jiani. A reputation of making the disco beat pays its dues for the long run. Kryptonite is a dance project in keeping the disco aura alive in the early 80’s. The shift of instrumental to full electronic based arranged was the big influence of high-energy music which took over in the mid-80’s. This sound was an early sign of which Canadian disco producers dedicated their time and talent and benefited many more years and even now the influence in pop-dance music. “Baby I Don’t Know” has the essence of a sound which was stamped on many of these productions which was heavy percussion and 'no more fooling around’ bass and rhythm guitar riffs. The true surviving and powerful elements of what maturing disco became in 1979. The hand claps that echo over the deep bass beats are the groove which made the 80’s a new disco era in itself. This track also shines with a masculine and defiant vocal which follows a simple rule of melody and level to fit into a synth-pop 80’s culture. A nice edge of the cliff relationship love song that makes the time seem simpler but at times more appealing.

I have taken the 12” vocal and instrumental of “Baby I Don’t Know” and worked on transferring the existing energy into a new outline for this ReStructure Mix. I used many of the existing parts to achieve the familiar production yet piece it a new way to make the excitement return once again.
