ReStructure Mix Update (12/30/20) “When The Fuel Runs Out” - Glenn Rivera ReStructure Mix – Chuck Jackson

Chuck Jackson is a soul singer who began a recording career in 1957 and continued throughout the millennium with many variations of r&b, blues and soul to his credit. In 1979 he recorded a disco single – “When The Fuel Runs Out” – originally recorded by Executive Suite in 1973 and written and produced by Earl Young, Norman Harris and Ron Baker of the Salsoul Disco Machine of the late 70’s. This one became a classic in many ways as it gave soul music a lift up into the upbeat disco sound that was being shaped in the early 70’s and eventually became what 1979 was most celebrated by. The track is recorded with Chuck’s soulful edge in a beautiful way and gives way to another moment where dance music places itself in a framework for things to come. This Chuck Jackson version is produced by Alan Schwatzberg, Stan Khan and Horace Ott.

I have taken the 12” version of “When The Fuel Runs Out” and recreated a new edit for this ReStructure Mix and salute to the magic 3 men of Salsoul Disco’s legacy. A longer feed into the track is provided and more of Chuck’s soulful and effective vocals are added.
